Product Review: Apple Pie Quest Bar

Rating: 6.5/10

Brand: Quest

Product: Apple Pie Quest Protein Bar

Found: Amazon.com

Summary: I am a big fan of Quest and have tried almost all of their products: from the powders, Bakeshop, the chips and especially the protein bars. I don’t have much opportunity to get out, so I do a lot of my shopping on Amazon. As soon as I saw this unique flavor pop up in my feed, I could not add to cart fast enough!

This specific product from Amazon came in a pack of 12 for 23.49(before tax). Rounding up to the nearest dollar, this comes out to roughly two dollars before tax. While this may seem somewhat pricey, its actually a fairly low one for protein/ health snacks.

The product comes in a bigger box made of thin cardboard. The outer part is adorned with similar color scheme and graphics to that found on the individual packaging. A larger nutrition label and ingredients list is affixed to the under side of the bigger box. Each individual bar also has smaller versions of both. This is great if you are like me and often through out the larger box to allow for a better fit into the pantry.

Nutrition: This protein bar has some great nutrition stats. For starters it has 20 grams of protein which is perfect if you need to up your intake for health reasons or trying to get those gains. It has 24 grams total carbs, which is not bad at all. Once you factor in thirteen grams of fiber and seven grams of sugar alcohols, it comes out to a total of four grams net carbs. This is perfect if you are doing low carb or keto!

If you are counting calories, it has one hundred and seventy calories a bar, which is not bad at all for a workout food/ meal replacement. As far as what percentage of the total calories in the day this takes up, you will need to consult with a dietitian or doctor. Everybody is different and has different dietary/ caloric needs.

Opinion/Rating: Starting off with the rating, it got 6.5 out of 10 which is kind of low for this brand (in my opinion). The flavor was tasty, and I would definitely buy again, but it lacked wow factor. To start, it was bland and did not reminisce of apple pie (sans pieces of dried apples). The coating and drizzle, which was a vanilla-cinnamon taste, saved it.

Texture was pretty on brand for this style of protein bar offered by quest. It was chewy almost nougat like, with a slight crunch.  The drizzle and coating were smooth, not too dry, nor too waxy. Almost a perfect middle.

But because the flavor did not live up to its reputation for me, nor the name, it was placed a bit lower on the scale this time.

As far as value for money is concerned, in my opinion I firmly believe this is a great deal for your money. While twenty-four dollars (or two dollars per bar) can be a bit much to spend at once, in the long run it can end up saving money. This is of course, for people who often buy protein products. If you are not someone who normally buys protein bars, or have not tried the Quest brand before, I highly suggest buying a singular bar in store before a bulk box.

That wraps up the summary. Love or hate protein bars, it’s definitely worth a try. If you have tried this flavor before and want to share your opinion, please visit any of the social sites to send a direct message, or connect with us via the contact page!
